Who We Are
The Iosco County Humane Society is dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, helping them find good homes, promoting responsible pet guardianship, and working toward a healthier future for pets throughout Iosco County. From shelter care and adoption to community education and humane advocacy, the organization serves as a local resource for animal welfare in Iosco County.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide excellent care and find good homes for our animal guests; to promote responsible pet guardianship; to work to end the overpopulation of feral cats, as well as all pets; and to run an organized, efficient shelter with a no-kill policy that is consistent with Michigan’s generally accepted definition of a “No-Kill” shelter.
We are also committed to helping animals in Iosco County who are lost, neglected, or suffering cruelty, and to making our county a safe and healthy place for all animals to live.
Our Core Values
Trust
We work to earn and maintain the trust of our community through our words, actions, and care for animals.
Respect
We believe animals, adopters, staff, volunteers, and community members should all be treated with care, dignity, and compassion.
Transparency
We aim to be open in our operations, governance, and animal welfare leadership so the community can remain informed and involved.
Accountability
We take responsibility for the work we do and the outcomes it creates, and we remain open to thoughtful discussion about how to serve Iosco County better.
Integrity
We are committed to sound stewardship, honest communication, and action-oriented leadership in support of our mission.
Serving Iosco County with Compassion
Animal welfare is local, personal, and deeply tied to community wellbeing. The Iosco County Humane Society exists to meet that need close to home by caring for vulnerable animals, encouraging adoption, and supporting a more humane future for pets and the people who love them. Whether someone is searching for a new companion, looking for help, or wanting to support the shelter’s mission, the organization is here to serve Iosco County with compassion and purpose.
